– H H Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, presided over ‘Together We Progress’ forum at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre on Sunday. Organised by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the forum will review the government’s policies and priorities in different sectors and discuss these with representatives of various segments and groups of society. The forum will also discuss the government’s policies underlined in Oman Vision 2040 and the various measures taken in light of global economic changes and mechanisms for dealing with the employment issue. H E Dr Khamis bin Saif al Jabri, Chairman of Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit, shared a visual presentation that included the components of the Vision document, which represents four main areas, 12 national priorities, 12 strategic directions, 75 strategic goals, and 68 national and international performance indicators. H E Dr Mahad bin Said bin Ali Ba’owain, Minister of Labour, said that the ministry will launch “Khatwa” platform.
It is the first interactive national electronic platform that provides students and jobseekers with specialised counselling services and comprehensive data on study programmes for higher education, employment opportunities and the type of professions in the labour market. “While our goal is not to reduce wages, we are currently reviewing the minimum wage. This is a purely economic matter based on supply and demand,” said H E Ba’owain.
